Blog: Executive Director attends Hill Day

Hospice in the Pines was honored to have the Sr. Executive Director attend the National Hospice and Palliative Care Leadership conference in Washington, D.C.  This special event was a great opportunity to collobrate with other hospice colleagues from all around the Nation.  Demetress was recognized for her execeptional leadership and has been featured on the Hospice Action Network website & blog for her experience during the Annual Capitol Hill Day. 

Demetress lead her team to more than (6) Texas - US Senator and Representative offices to express the impact future proposed legistative changes could have on the hospice industry and the various regulatory areas of interest.  Demetress is a strong advocate for hospice the recognizes the quality Hospice in the Pines strives to provide daily as a end of life care provider.  Demetress along with other hospice leaders met with Capitol Hill members to stress the important and gain their support  in the HELP Hospice Act (S. 722), receiving favorable interest.  Demetress was the only East Texas representative and acknowledged the tremendous benefits of NHPCO.  Dr. J. Donald Schumacher CEO- President of National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization notes that no other conference equips leaders in hospice and palliative care with essential tools for success and opportunities to learn from experts in healthcare, business, and leadership.  Demetress applauds the efforts of the National Hospice Action Network for the continuous advocacy in hospice care and was elated to be a part of this years activities.
